GAS PRICES IN ‘09, ‘08 & ‘07

Gas is going for $2.439 at retail nearby [7/11/2009].

On 7/4/2008 gas was at $4.199 locally.

On 7/6/2007 gas was $3.199 locally.

In Summer 2008 there was a huge price spike where the national average topped $4 a gallon. Crude oil also closed above $145 a barrel.

What do you think the national average will be for a gallon of regular at the end of 2009?

GAS PRICES

Came across a very interesting website. HT: CARPE DIEM

If you are concerned about the price of gas going up this may be perfect for you. Buy at today's prices if you think they are going up. If you think prices are going to fall do nothing.

Example Scenario:
National average for 87 unleaded is about $4.099 per gallon.
If you think gas will go up to $5 a gallon, you buy gas at today's price. The great thing is that you do not have to take all 100 gallons [or other amount] today. You can take delivery when pump prices are $5. You get that gas for what was the current price when you bought it in bulk for future delivery.

Here is the website: MyGallons.com

See for yourself.

FUEL PRICES HAVE PEAKED

Monday June 2, 2008 was the last day of peak gas prices. The only fuel station in town had prices at $4.099 for what seemed like a few weeks. That was the highest price reached. The next day prices fell to $4.059 and this morning [6/5] they were $3.999. The national average price should begin to fall within the next few weeks. The slide will probably be gradual and where prices stabilize is any ones guess.

Lets hope for $3.50 soon then $3.00 by September and hopefully lower as the year progresses [If and when the US $ gains some strength, oil and fuel prices will fall further still].

What are your thoughts?
