IDEA FOR PANDORA

Have they created a plug in for music players?

Possible Ideas
  • Analyse music you play
  • Allow rating of songs
  • Measure skips [time of day / order analysis etc]
  • Suggest music that matches the great stuff you already own
  • Explain the styles/themes you are liking

Might call it Pandora Music Analysis. Tag line: "More of What You Love"

What are your suggestions if Pandora is no longer able to afford to stream music?

LAST STAND FOR PANDORA MUSIC SERVICE?

About a month ago the Coyote blog had a post on the imminent demise of the Pandora music service. There has been little information about this in the past month. Today there is a new article in the Washington Post.

Giant of Internet Radio Nears Its 'Last Stand' Pandora, Other Webcasters Struggle Under High Song Fees

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Pandora is one of the nation's most popular Web radio services, with about 1 million listeners daily. Its Music Genome Project allows customers to create stations tailored to their own tastes. It is one of the 10 most popular applications for Apple's iPhone and attracts 40,000 new customers a day.

Yet the burgeoning company may be on the verge of collapse, according to its founder, and so may be others like it.

"We're approaching a pull-the-plug kind of decision," said Tim Westergren, who founded Pandora. "This is like a last stand for webcasting."

THOUGHTS:

This will be big news now that the main stream media is covering. It seems that Internet radio is under full assault. Pandora is one of the top apps for the Apple iPhone.

Expect this to be a trending topic on blogs next week. The furor over this could shake things up. Where do Obama and McCain stand on this and similar issues?
